Päivi Blinnikka has been appointed as the new Ambassador of Finland to Bulgaria from 1 September 2016. Ambassador Harri Salmi, who has been in charge of the Embassy since 2012, will return to Finland in the end of this summer.
Päivi Blinnikka will move to Sofia from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Helsinki, where she has served since 2009 as Director of the Unit for Passports and Visas.
Blinnikka joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1981 and has served at the structural Departments of the Ministry, i.a. Department for Europe and Consular Department.
She has also held posts, among other things, as Consul General at the Consulate General of Finland in Hamburg as well as at the Embassies of Paris, Vienna, Moscow and Budapest.
