Sanna Ringborg assumed her duties as Attachée at the Embassy of Finland in Sofia in August. She has been working at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs since 2005. Before being posted to Bulgaria, Sanna was working at the Department for the Communications and Culture of the Finnish Foreign Ministry. Sanna is responsible for the consular and administrative affairs and she is a member of the embassy’s Public Diplomacy Team.
“In a small Embassy you have a chance to get an insight of the multiple aspects of Embassy´s activities. This is my first post and I´m convinced that it is advantageous for me to start in a small-sized embassy. I´m looking forward to all the interesting new tasks I will have to tackle “Sanna tells.
Sanna considers that one of the advantages of her work at MFA is the possibility to work abroad. It gives you the opportunity to widen your horizons and world view and at the same time get to know new cultures and languages. First impressions of Sofia and Bulgaria have been positive. August has been sunny and the local residents are very friendly and easy to approach. During the last month Sanna had some time to get familiar with the neighborhood.
A day visit to the Vitosha Mountains made a special impression. “The advantage of living in Sofia is that a 30-minutes’ drive will bring you out to the Vitosha Natural Park. The beautiful and peaceful mountain landscape is a great escape from the city life” Sanna says.
Sanna is very fascinated of the Bulgarian diverse nature and the country is very rich in attractions. There are possibilities to visit beach destinations in the Black Sea area, hike in the mountains and ski in winter and learn more about the country’s important historical places. In Bulgaria there are for example nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites. “I will have many enchanting corners to explore and events to experience with my family”, the new attachée sums up.
